What Are The Main Causes of Hair Loss

Hairs are the most essential part of human personality. It is a very important part of both male and female personalities. We usually don’t think much about hair when we are young or when our hairs are healthy but one day we start noticing bald patches or thinning of hair. The next thing that comes into your mind what if I become completely bald and that makes you worry the most. When hair starts to thin or you see bad patches on your head that can be an indication of something serious happening in your body. When your hairs are healthy it sheds easily and grows again stronger. But when hair starts to fall or become brittle it’s a signal that there is an underlying health issue.

There are two main reasons behind hair thinning and falling out. The first is hereditary and the next one is medical issues. If you have a hair loss issue in your family that either your mother or father experienced hair fall you might be a victim of it sooner than you expected.

Hair loss happens when the hair growth cycle slows down and the hair fall rate increases. it is not threatening and utterly normal if you lose up to 100 strands in your hand daily but if that number is more than 150 you need to take it seriously. If that continues for a week or two that means you are experiencing hair loss. The next thing that comes to your mind is why I am having this issue and how I can stop or regrow my hair again. But first, let’s talk about the reasons why you are having hair loss. You need to understand the reason for your hair loss first which will help you to treat it in a better way. Hair loss can be a piece of terrible news whether you are a male or female. After that it’s such an emotional journey you feel like an important part of your personality is missing your confidence level goes down with it too. According to NHS, it is normal if you are losing hairs between 50 to 100 strands on a daily basis. If you have long hairs that must be more visible to the eyes and you will be concerned.

Now let’s discuss the reasons. There is a number of reasons for hair loss. The most common reason for baldness is hereditary, which is common both in men and women. This can get worst with age and you will experience bald patches on your head. The other reasons can be Thyroid deficiencies, medication, radiation or chemotherapy, stress, hormonal changes, hairstyle, and sometimes hair treatment.

Hair loss can be related to one of the following reasons

Family History Heredity:

The most common hair loss reason is hereditary which usually happens with aging. The medical term for this kind of baldness is called androgenic alopecia male or female pattern baldness. It usually occurs with time and age. A receding hairline is the most common one. However one can find bald patches in men and thinning hairs along the crown of the scalp in women.

Hormonal Changes & Medical conditions:

Hormonal changes and certain medical conditions can cause hair loss such as hormonal changes due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, and thyroid problems. Another medical condition that can be a reason for hair loss is called alopecia areata which is associated with the immune system and can cause patchy hair loss or scalp infections like ringworm.

Medication & supplement :

Some medications used for certain illnesses can cause hair loss too. Hair loss can be a side effect of those medications. The drugs are used for treating cancer arthritis, depression, heart problems, gout, and high blood pressure.

Radiation Therapy on the Head:

Radiation therapy can cause damage to hair and there is a chance that it may not grow the same way again.

Stress or shock:

Many people experience hair loss months after a physical or emotional shock but it only causes thinning of hair. But this kind of hair loss is not permanent.

Hairstyle and Treatment:

Hairstyling can cause hair loss too. Excessive hairstyling or hairstyles that pull your hair tight, such as pigtails or cornrows, can cause hair loss called traction alopecia.

Conclusion:

Hair loss can be caused by various factors including genetics, hormonal changes, medical conditions, poor nutrition, stress, and certain medications. It is important to identify the underlying cause to find an effective and proper solution. Consulting with a dermatologist can help determine the cause and suggest the best course of treatment.
